Roller shutter doors aren’t the most difficult or heaviest garage doors to install but there are certain things you will need to know, especially if you’re installing a garage door on a new build.

Most building regulations today state that you have to have two layers of plasterboard on a garage ceiling if it’s connected to the house. This isn’t always ideal for a roller shutter door because you need a good amount of headroom to install it, and it often means you will have to cut the plaster boarding short, leaving yourself enough space to install the door.

One common mistake when initially installing this type of door is leaving the key inside the lock, which can result in serious damage. Keys must always be taken out before the roller shutter is raised, because it can break though the surface of the door.
